About Andy
From software engineer to financial planner.
The short version
I'm a Certified Financial Planner® who spent years as a software engineer before making the switch to financial planning. I built Ad Astra because tech professionals deserve an advisor who actually understands their compensation, their tax complexity, and their ambition.
The longer version
When I was working in tech, I realized that the financial planning industry wasn't built for people like me and my colleagues. We had complex equity packages — ISOs, NSOs, RSUs, ESPPs — and the typical advisor either didn't understand them or charged AUM fees that weren't aligned with our interests.
So I got my CFP® certification and built the practice I wished had existed: flat-fee, deeply technical, and focused exclusively on the challenges tech professionals face.
I work with clients in the San Francisco Bay Area and Boston, though all meetings are virtual, so geography is flexible.

Beyond the numbers
When I'm not building financial plans, you'll find me exploring the outdoors, tinkering with side projects, or enjoying time with family. "Ad Astra" means "to the stars" — it's a reminder that financial planning should be about reaching for something bigger.
